Kanyamazane is facing growing concern over the rise of school gangsterism, with several local schools reportedly affected by violent clashes between learners.
Schools including Sitinitle Secondary School, Lekazi Central High School, Thembeka Secondary School and ZB Kunene High School have been identified as some of the institutions where incidents have been reported.
According to information shared by Sergeant Mthethwa from the Kanyamazane Police Station, learners are forming groups aligned to their respective schools and engaging in fights with rival groups. These confrontations are said to be happening both within and outside school premises, raising serious safety concerns for learners, teachers, and the broader community.
Police warn that the situation, if not addressed early, could escalate into more dangerous forms of violence.
